I received something lovley with the mail today!

Tweet I received a wonderful surprise with the mail today! All right, maybe it wasn’t much of a surprise really as I knew it would be coming sometime soon. I got the newest edition of Jane Austen’s Regency World! I began subscribing to this magazine at Christmas 2007, I got a subscription from my parents then. For those of you who have not heard of this magazine before let me tell you a little about it. It is made and published by the Jane Austen Center, in Bath. And it comes out six times a year. As is quite easy … Continue reading

Just something I thought was fun

Tweet On our before mentioned visit to the library when we got the film I last wrote about, we also borrowed something else; a book bearing the title Journeys of a Lifetime – 500 of the Worlds Greatest Trips. It was a National Geographic book, and a very nice one I must say! I spent the morning lying outside in the shade looking through it, as I have been feeling far from well today and didn’t have much energy for anything else. There was this one section in the book called In Their Footsteps which had a number of different … Continue reading

A Great Swedish film! :)

Tweet A little while ago I read the Swedish classic Jerusalem. It is a book written by Selma Lagerlöf, who is considered by a great number of people to be  Sweden’s best author. And I would probably have to agree with them. She is, or was I should say, a wonderful story teller! She really knew how to tell a story, and she combines the story she is telling (or writing) with legends from different areas in Sweden. Of course she is very famous here in Sweden, but not only here. Most of her works have been translated into many, … Continue reading

Of Tilneys and train-rides

Tweet I don’t know why it is, but it seems like my days have suddenly become shorter than they were before, even though in reality they have become longer (here close to the Arctic circle we now have light almost 24 hours a day)! Whatever I do I just can’t seem to fit in all the things I had planned! It’s strange… I hope it’s just something I’m going through and that it will pass before too long. I had planned to post something here yesterday, but the day was over before I knew it. But that’s all right, I’ll … Continue reading

Midsummer!

Tweet As you might have guessed, the reason for my absence from this blog for the last few days is the Midsummer party we have been having. I would call the party a great success! We were over 70 people, most of who stayed over until the next day. The last people have just left. Unfortunately, we did not have the wonderful weather I had been hoping for. On Midsummers Eve itself, it was quite cold and it did rain, but luckily only for parts of the day. We did manage to dance around the pole before the rain began. … Continue reading

My second Regency gown

Tweet After I had made my first Regency gown, it didn’t take me long before I thought it was time I made another one. I was so pleased with the result of my first one that I was most excited at the thought of having one more. However, when I had my fabric all cut out and was sitting down by my sewing machine to begin, it just refused to work! Whatever I did it wouldn’t cooperate! That is one of the most frustrating things ever, when you are all ready and excited to start a project and then something … Continue reading
