Summer days

Tweet We are in the very middle of summer now (oh my, where has all the time gone?!). And even though we don’t have particularly warm weather around these parts at the moment (I haven’t gone swimming for weeks!) there are other things that tell you it’s summer. Right now we are in the midst of the berry season. Aaah, what a lovely season that is! There are berries everywhere around here now! Raspberries, cherries, blueberries…. Just a few kilometers from our house there is this place, in the forest, where there are just sooo many blueberries!! Whichever direction you … Continue reading

Here are the pictures I promised

Tweet I promised you I would post pictures of my new dress here soon. Well, now I will. After I finally decided that I am going to the Jane Austen Festival later this year, I realized that I really should finish my dress before then, as I would need it. And I can tell you, just the fact that I really needed a Regency dress, was motivating enough to get me to actually finish it! I made the dress using the same pattern I have used for my previous ones, this one. I did make some slight changes to it … Continue reading

I’ve got to tell you! I’m so excited!

Tweet I’m going to tell you something now which I am so excited about! I am going to the Jane Austen Festival in Bath in September!!!!!!!!!! The festival is ten days, and I will be there for the first four. You can read all about the festival here. Of course everything seems lovely, and I wish I could stay for all ten days. But not this time. Now don’t mistake me, I’m more … Continue reading

Another sewing project completed

Tweet I just finished another Regency dress! Well, almost finished it at least. I still have to sew in some buttons, but I need to buy some of those first. I started this project several months ago, and it’s not like me to have an unfinished sewing project lying around for long without completing it. But something went wrong, or just didn’t work out the way I wanted it to, and I got so frustrated that I didn’t find the energy and will to tackle it again for the loooongest time! Not until now, when I decided I needed to get … Continue reading

Hattie Morahan for her portrayal of Elinor Dashwood and David Morrisey for Colonel Brandon. Winner of best supporting actor was Hugh Bonneville from Lost in Austen where he played Mr. Bennet. Best new fiction went to Emma Campell-Webster for Being Elizabeth Bennet: Create … Continue reading

A sad day…

Tweet July 18th is a sad day for us Janeites, it was on this day 192 years ago that our beloved Jane passed away. It is a great pity that she died at such a young age. Think of all that she could have written had she lived but a few years longer! But I will be forever grateful that she actually wrote what she did! She gave us some of the best and most well loved works ever written! I posted the whole of this poem by Rudyard Kipling a little while ago, but I just found it suitable … Continue reading
