I got a book today!

our mutual friend
I just came back from a walk to discover a package had arrived for me from Amazon! What a lovely surprise! I love getting packages from them, somehow it feels like getting presents, even though I know I’ve paid for it myself… (oh yes, all of £0.01!) ;)

The book I got was Our Mutual Friend. Can’t wait to start reading it! I’ll tell you more about it once I’ve read it, and watched the film.

By the way, I really liked the address that the book was sent from! It was “Mulberry House, Woods Way, Goring By Sea”. Sounds so lovely in a way I think. We don’t have addresses like that in Sweden!

I’m not particularly fond of Dickens, but this is one of my favorites. I cheated and watched the film adaptation first, but then I *had* to read the book as well! Enjoy!

Oh, I agree, that address is just wonderful! I love British place names…
    Happy reading!

I have also cheated a few times on some adaptations, watched it before I read it. But I decided not to do so with this one, since I have an idea that I wanted to read it, and then I would prefer doing so without knowing the story. I’m glad to hear you like it. :)

I do agree Laura, the British seem to have a talent for coming up with lovely names on places!

I think it’s unfortunate we don’t have such addresses here in my country, despite being a bunch of British colonists… :P Everything is too standardized, plain, nondescript, and efficient.

Look forward to seeing what you think of the book once you’re finished! :D

Lily read it before watching it with the family. We had to stop and have so much explained by her. I highly recommend reading it first. I did go back and read it for myself (wish I had read it first – like we normally do…) That said, it is a real favorite with all of us. We are in the middle of watching it again :-)

I am pleased to hear that you all like it so well! I haven’t had the chance to read very far in it yet, but I have read a few chapters and I have a feeling I’ll end up really liking it! And I can’t wait to watch it! :)

Hope everything is well with you all!

I have not read this book yet, but I just saw the movie and am dying to read it now. I’ve read all but Emma of Jane Austen.
