Another big favourite of mine: Little House on the Prairie

Tweet One of the gifts I received for Christmas (thanks Gabi!) was a box with a season of the Little House on the Prairie series. I was very happy to recieve this, and though I have not had a chance to watch it yet (with four teenage boys around it’s not the easiest thing in the world… :P) I am really looking forward to doing so! I realized that I have never yet written anything on here about the Little House on the Prairie books. I can’t see why I haven’t, they’ve been great favourites with me for many years! … Continue reading

Christmas with Disney

Tweet I hope you’ve all enjoyed a nice Christmas! It has been quite a good one here, rather crowded as I suspected, but mostly nice. We had a big nice dinner, danced around the house in a traditional Swedish “långdans” (long dance), and of course, opened all the presents. Since we were quite a few of us that took some time, but obviously it was a rather pleasant activity. 😉 All the presents I got were so lovely! Something else we did was watch the Disney Christmas show. For forty years or so that has been a very popular tradition … Continue reading

It’s Christmas Time! :)

Tweet “You are all to come to Pemberley at Christmas” so writes Elizabeth in her letter to Mrs Gardiner in the very end of Pride and Prejudice. We are going to have lots of people here for Christmas this year, I have a feeling it’s going to get pretty crowded. Especially as it is now -25 outside (according to the online converter I found, that would be 13 degrees Fahrenheit), so no one will be wanting to spend too much time outdoors. Brrrr….  We are going to be at least 14 people here, possibly 19, depending on whether one family … Continue reading

Today’s a big day – even Google knows it!

Tweet Have you seen Google today? If you have you will have noticed that there is a lovely little picture of a Regency lady and a gentleman. In honor of our dearest Jane Austen’s 235th birthday! Finally they have got their priorities straight! 😀 Bookmark on Delicious Digg this post Recommend on Facebook share via Reddit Share with Stumblers Tweet about it Subscribe to the comments on this post

“Natten går tunga fjät…”

Tweet … so begins the traditional Swedish Saint Lucia song. Like you might be aware, today is Saint Lucia day over here. I have to say I’ve never quite understood why we celebrate Saint Lucia here, she was an Italian saint, but Scandinavia is the only place where we celebrate her. Weird… But I’m glad we do here, ’cause I think it’s a nice tradition. 🙂 The most important thing for Lucia is of course the singing, the white dress and the crown with cranberry leaves and candles. They have Lucia processions everywhere on this day; schools, hospitals, work places. … Continue reading

Costume Chronicles

Tweet I don’t know if this is something that everyone is already familar with, but I just found it. Apparently there is a “webzine” called Costume Chronicles. Like I said, I just found it, so I don’t know much about it yet really. This is how they describe it on their facebook page “Costume Chronicles is a six-issues-per-year publication that celebrates fashion, movies, television, and books based in historical eras”. Sounds good, doesn’t it?! AND… it’s free! 🙂 I just downloaded the newest issue of this “magazine”, which seems to focus on different Jane Asten adaptations, I am very much … Continue reading
