Happy New Year! :)

Happy New Year all my dear readers!!!! I know, it’s been the new year for almost a week already now, but I haven’t gotten around to wishing you a happy one before this. But better late than never, as the saying goes. 🙂

I hope the new year has begun absolutely splendidly for you! I’ve been pretty busy. I very recently started working at a local company (it’s just across the lake) where I will work for a couple of months. This means that I will be rather busy during that time, but I shall do my best to continue posting things on here relatively often.

You know the New Years Concert in Vienna? Well, I really like to watch that every 1st of January (or, at least I have for the last few years). The music is lovely of course, but I particularly like the… well, the elegance of it all! The venue, with it’s golden ceiling, all the people dressed up nicely (rather nicely at least), all the gorgeous flowers, and, best of all; the ballet! I have to admit, that is my favourite part! Not only is the dancing in itself beautiful, they wear stunning outfits (mostly) and the locations where they dance are just….wow!
This year in one of the ballet parts they even wore historical outfits! *sigh* So lovely!

I found the clip on youtube, and here it is, for anyone who’d like to have a look. Please note the gorgeous coat the lady wears in the beginning! I want one like that!

And if anyone want’s some more, here is another lovely one. 🙂 In the beginning it isn’t so special, but it gets better, and once again both the dresses and the location are stunning! 🙂

I just think it’s so dreamlike….!

Ah, the New Years Concert is a big favorite here as well! What a wonderful way to start the new year! “An der schönen blauen Donau” always gives me goosebumps.
The ballet is my favorite part, too. This year I liked the part where the kids danced best – it was super cute 🙂

Is the entire concert aired in Sweden or just the second part as in DK?

  2. Those videos were breath-taking! I love them! Thanks for posting!

Wow! I like to listen to New Year’s Day from Vienna on the radio, but I’ve never seen it before. That historical ballet is gorgeous! And the first gentleman – the one in the golden-orange coat – looks very Regency-ish, don’t you think? : )

I’m glad to hear you like it too Malene! 🙂 You know, I am not sure actually if it’s the entire thing or just the second part… I haven’t thought about it before! What they show here is something like 1h and 45m, I think. Might very well just be the second half…

Ooh, yes, the dance with the kids was SO cute! That part where one of the boys was being forced to go up to the girls and then fainted, so funny and well done!

Elinor and Emily, I’m so glad you liked them! 🙂

I completely agree with you Emily, he looks very Regency-ish. When I first saw him I instantly thought of Willoughby, for some reason. And the funny thing was that my mom thought exactly the sam thing!

    Happy New Year, Aurora!

I love to watch the New Year’s concert, too, it’s been a tradition in my family for as long as I can remember. The music, the elegance…
