I’m still here! :)

Hello everyone! Yes, I know, I have been absent from this blog a very long time now. 🙁 And you know what, I have no exciting reason for this. No exciting reason whatsoever. The way things have been lately the blog has just been a bit neglected, which is not what I want. At the same time I think it may have been good for me, to take a little break, and hopefully now I can back to it with a renewed vigour!

I don’t know you all personally, but even so I am thinking about anyone out there reading this, how have you been lately? I hope summer so far has been nice and filled with lovely moments (or winter so far, if you are on the southern hemisphere). Here in Sweden we’ve had great sunny and warm weather for a lot of the last month, and that is certainly not necessarily standard for a Swedish summer, so we are enjoying that while it’s here. The coming month will be a busy one with visitors from near and far coming to spend time, which will be nice. 🙂
I am currently working on getting my drivers license, it’s my big project at present and I am constantly torn between hope and frustration over it. But I’m getting closer and hopefully it will not be too long until I have that completed and can start putting my focus on other things, things that are (to me) slightly more interesting than learning all the different road signs and practicing “fun” things like how to reverse around a corner and other riveting stuff which I have been putting my attention to lately. But all these things will no doubt come in handy 😛

I haven’t done so much sewing for a while. I made myself another 50’s inspired dress a little while ago that I am hoping to get the chance to wear soon. If no good occasion arises I will just have to create an opportunity somehow!

I am beginning to slowly realize that this years Jane Austen Festival in Bath is coming up faster than I think it is. I must soon decide on such things as lodging and planning how long I will stay for. Anyone else planning to go this year?? I don’t *think* I will stay for the whole week this year, but then I’ve said that before and ended up not being able to resist doing so, so I’m not sure how things will be. One thing which I’m pretty sure of is I’ll need to make something new to wear. Of course. Not perhaps becuase I actually need something, but because it’s always fun to have something new! I’ve got my mind on a new Spencer jacket perhaps…

Oh, I really must tell you of this small but to me fun little occurence. My brother Aron (now 19) has as you know been subjected to “suffer through” quite a few period dramas, and has seen all the Jane Austen adaptations at least once. And a short while ago he was writing something on history and was mentioning Winston Churchill, but the funny thing was that as he was writing down his name instead of writing “Winston” he wrote “Frank”! I just thought it was so funny that the first Churchill that comes to his mind as he was writing this was Frank Churchill! Never mind the fact that he couldn’t remember which book he was in, but the name was sure there! Obviously Winston Churchill is the more famous one of the two, to Aron as well, but Frank is not far behind! 😉 It amused me no end, and in my own Jane Austen obsessed way I can’t help but feel a little proud to have “taught” my brother so well. Maybe, just maybe I may have been an influence there… hahaha

Winston or Frank… that is the question

Very funny and quite amusing. Good luck, me dear, as you learn how to drive. I know that can be a challenge. Have fun in Bath and I can’t wait to see your photos.

    Hello Aurora,

So glad to see you writing again and to know that you feel free to take a well deserved break when you need one.

Best wishes for your driving lessons.

That was a fun story about your brother and the Churchill confusion.

I have been having a good summer, as I hope you are. My son has finally decided he is interested in learning to ride a bike and is now making up for lost time. The other day we were talking about how fun it is to pretend our bikes are horses and decided our “horses” should have names. John named his Mr. Cheney after a character on the old comedy show, Green Acres. I named my horse Bingley, because I want my horse to be handsome, dependable, sociable and fun.

We are enjoying very nice weather here in Illinois. I hope the good weather there holds out for many more days of fun and sun for you.

    Jennifer
