Napoleonic weekend Lucca 4 – Beautiful gardens

Tweet The morning after tha ball everyone enjoyed a nice sleep in, seeing as how the events of the day didn’t start until the afternoon. I spent the morning sitting around chatting to the others at the hotel, and then a few of us decided to go for a bike ride around the ring wall of Lucca. Such a nice thing to do! This day we were going to be spending outside of Lucca, visiting two of the many villas and estates that surround the city (I believe the guide who showed us around the day before mentioned there being … Continue reading

Napoleonic weekend in Lucca 3 – Grand ball

Tweet The grand ball at this event was, very conveniently for me, taking place at the same hotel where I was staying. This meant that we, me and my three room mates, were obviously the last people to arrive at the ball. 😛 You know when you think you have all the time in the world to get ready, you just need to get into a dress, do your hair and you’re more or less ready. And since it would literally only take us seconds to get where we needed to go we were in no hurry. So yes, we … Continue reading

Napoleonic weekend in Lucca 2 – Grand houses, guided tours and gardens

Tweet Saturday’s schedule was a busy one, so I am going to divide Saturday up in two posts here (I have enough material from that day alone to make up 4 or 5 posts probably, but I am going to try to stick to two). After breakfast at the hotel (to which some people came already dressed in costume. Love it!) we quickly set about getting ready and together a big group of us from the same hotel set off, hurrying through the narrow and cobbled streets of Lucca to get to the first place we were to visit that … Continue reading

Napoleonic weekend in Lucca 1 – Arriving in Italy, and dancing in Palazzo Ducale

Tweet And so I’m back. I always find it hard to decide if I am happy or not to be back after an event like this one. In one sense I am, I am happy to have had a good time and met such nice people and to come back with all these wonderful memories, but at the same time it can also leave me feeling a little depressed for a while. I know that shouldn’t be the case, but honestly, when you’ve been away living like a princess having the time of your life it can be a little … Continue reading

It’s time to travel again! :)

Tweet So, the time has finally come! Finally it is time for me to pack my bags and head off to another fantastic event! It feels like its been forever since last!! But now Italy, and the medieval city of Lucca, awaits with a Napoleonic weekend that I am sure will be spectacular! I’ve talked about this event on here before, but for those who have managed to miss that, this is a Napoleonic event organized by the lovely Margarita Martinez (who’s website you can find here) and it will include dancing, a ball, picnic, visits to a museum, costumes, … Continue reading

I’m dreaming of summer (and Downton Abbey!)…

Tweet Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear…! It’s been shockingly long since I updated my blog! I am heartily ashamed of myself! In my defence though I have been very busy lately. Right now I am both working and studying (doing a distance course) and it is unfortunately taking up a great deal of my time these days. It is only temporary however and will not last for very long (thankfully!), but that is the reason why my dear little blog has been so sadly neglected! Here in Sweden winter is here in full force! After a relatively mild autumn and … Continue reading
